A touring `Ukulele workshop of Power Strums
Fun and challenging! Lanialoha empowers you to embrace the hands-on `ukulele exercises that establishes a good foundation of basics; technique for a variety of strumming styles; with a strong emphasis on repertoire filled with culturally enriching stories of our Kupuna (elders) and their aloha for traditional music, combined with today’s new local Hawaiian music of the younger generation. All of which continues to bridge the Midwest with Hawai`i.

  • A 60 minute power presentation in your organization’s Headquarters or other secured multi-purpose room and a presentaion area on an elevated space for ideal visual contact of workshop patrons;
  • Workshop materials that include `Ukulele Chord Progession Sheet, Mele/Song Lyric Sheets, and `Ukulele Work Sheets exclusively created and developed by Lanialoha;
  • Information on the history of the `ukulele and its Hawaiian connection sprinkled with fun facts;
    Workshop repertoire that include and connect with other cultures that have influenced the development of Hawaiian music;
  • An accompanying narrative that employs a variety of learning styles, filled with clever mnemonic devices used in remembering various strum names.

To-date Lanialoha’s `ukulele students of the Old Town School have seen the sum of 145 plus songs of the pacific islands. And since the Fall of 1996, Lanialoha has engaged hundreds of students of this method, all having experienced the fun and challenging ways to learn to play `ukulele, and sing songs that continues to connect the Midwest Pacific Island Communities with the islands of the south pacific.
